Mounting hole pattern mismatch for NXB-MNT-641-006 plate and R-100 robot
Industrial Robotics & Maintenance Parts case CASE-00193
Description
We received our NexBot Drives 641-006 Robot Floor Mounting Plate (SKU: NXB-MNT-641-006) yesterday and are attempting to install our new R-100 series robot. We have leveled and anchored the plate to the concrete floor per the installation guide, but when we lowered the robot onto the plate, we found that the pre-drilled mounting holes do not align with the bolt pattern on the robot's base. We are off by approximately 15mm on two of the four holes. We have verified the robot model is an R-100 and the part number stamped on the plate is correct. We also measured the plate dimensions, and they match the specified 800 x 800 mm. We cannot proceed with the installation and our production line integration is now on hold. Is there a known revision issue with this plate or a specific orientation required that is not obvious from the documentation?
Symptoms
- Robot base mounting holes do not align with plate holes.
- Unable to secure robot to the mounting plate.
- Installation process halted due to physical incompatibility.
- Measurements suggest a rotational or offset discrepancy.
Resolution
The issue was determined to be an incorrect orientation of the R-100 robot on the NXB-MNT-641-006 mounting plate. The R-100 robot has a specific required orientation relative to the plate's primary axis to ensure alignment of both the mounting holes and the cable pass-through features. The customer had attempted to mount the robot at a 0-degree rotation. The correct installation requires a 90-degree rotation to align the orientation markers present on both the robot base and the mounting plate. After guiding the customer to identify these markers and rotate the robot, all mounting holes aligned perfectly, and the installation was able to proceed.
Resolution Steps
- Confirm the part number NXB-MNT-641-006 is physically stamped or etched onto the mounting plate.
- Locate the triangular orientation marker on the base casting of the R-100 robot, near the J1 axis.
- Locate the corresponding triangular orientation marker etched into the top surface of the floor mounting plate.
- Using a certified lifting device, carefully raise the R-100 robot from the plate.
- Rotate the robot 90 degrees so that the marker on the robot base aligns with the marker on the plate.
- Slowly lower the robot back onto the plate, confirming the alignment of all mounting holes before the full weight is applied.
- Once aligned, proceed with the standard bolt-down and torqueing procedure as detailed in the R-100 installation manual.
