Misalignment of NXB-GEN-611-002 Perimeter Guard Panel during new cell installation
Industrial Robotics & Maintenance Parts case CASE-00045
Description
We are in the process of commissioning a new robotic cell for our R-100 series robot and are encountering significant issues with the installation of the NexBot Drives 611-002 Perimeter Guard Panels. Specifically, panel number 7 along the east wall will not align correctly with the support posts (NXB-PST-2100). When we attempt to mount it, there is a visible vertical gap of nearly 15mm at the top mounting bracket while the bottom is flush. If we force it into place, the panel mesh visibly bows and puts extreme tension on the mounting hardware. We have double-checked the part numbers and confirmed we are using the correct 2000x1000mm panels. This misalignment prevents us from creating a secure, gap-free perimeter and is holding up the entire project. We suspect either the panel is warped from the factory or the mounting points are out of tolerance. We need urgent assistance to determine the root cause and find a solution.
Symptoms
- Panel does not align with mounting holes on support posts.
- Significant vertical gap observed at the top mounting bracket.
- Panel mesh bows under tension when bolts are tightened.
- Adjacent panels cannot be installed flush.
Resolution
The support team investigated the installation issue with the NXB-GEN-611-002 panel. After a remote session with the customer's on-site team, it was determined that the concrete floor in the installation area was not perfectly level, causing the support posts to be out of plumb. This slight vertical deviation was magnified over the 2000mm height of the panel, resulting in the observed misalignment. The resolution involved instructing the customer on the proper procedure for leveling and shimming the base plates of the support posts before mounting the panels. By ensuring each post was perfectly vertical, the panels could be installed without tension or gaps, meeting safety requirements.
Resolution Steps
- Verified that the correct panel and post SKUs were being used for the installation.
- Instructed the customer to use a laser level to check the floor levelness at the base of each support post in the affected area.
- Guided the team to loosen the floor anchor bolts for the two misaligned support posts.
- Advised the customer to insert industrial steel shims beneath the post base plates until a bubble level confirmed the posts were perfectly plumb in both X and Y axes.
- Once plumb, instructed the team to re-torque the floor anchor bolts to the specification of 150 Nm.
- The NXB-GEN-611-002 panel was then re-mounted, and it aligned perfectly with the mounting holes.
- Final check was performed to ensure no gaps existed between adjacent panels before completing the installation.
