Installation Guide: NexBot Robotics 322-017 3D Vision Camera 5MP Structured Light
SKU: NXB-SNS-322-017 | Revision: 1.0 | Category: Sensors & Vision > Vision Systems > 3D Vision Cameras
DANGER: Disconnect all power sources before beginning installation.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures per OSHA 1910.147.
1. Required Tools & Materials
2. Pre-Installation Checks
- Verify the SKU on the packaging is NXB-SNS-322-017.
- Inspect the camera housing and optical windows for any signs of shipping damage.
- Confirm the mounting location is rigid, free from excessive vibration, and provides an unobstructed view of the target area.
- Ensure a stable 24VDC power source is available and measures within +/- 10% tolerance.
- Verify the target network switch or port is configured for Gigabit Ethernet (1000BASE-T).
- Download the latest version of NexBot Vision Suite software and drivers from the official support portal.
3. Installation Procedure
Step 1: Securely Mount the Camera
Mount the 1.5 kg camera to a rigid, vibration-free bracket using four M6 bolts. Ensure the 180 x 100 x 75 mm Anodized Aluminum housing has adequate clearance for airflow and cable routing.
Step 2: Ground the Camera Chassis
Connect the dedicated grounding point on the camera housing to the main system earth ground. A proper ground connection is essential for electrical safety and reducing signal noise.
Warning: Failure to properly ground the device can result in electrical hazards and unreliable operation.
Step 3: Connect the Power and I/O Cable
Prepare and connect the 24VDC power supply and any required digital I/O signals to the M12 A-coded power connector. Double-check wiring polarity against the pinout diagram before connecting to the camera.
Warning: Reversing the power supply polarity will cause permanent damage to the camera's internal electronics.
Step 4: Connect the GigE Vision Ethernet Cable
Connect a shielded, industrial-grade M12 X-coded Ethernet cable to the camera's GigE Vision port. Route the cable away from motors, VFDs, and other sources of high electromagnetic interference.
Step 5: Install NexBot Vision Suite Software
On the host controller or PC, install the NexBot Vision Suite. This package contains the necessary GigE Vision drivers, the camera configuration utility, and the SDK.
Step 6: Configure Host Network Adapter
Set a static IP address on the host computer's network adapter that is on the same subnet as the camera's factory default IP address. Disable any jumbo packet or energy-saving features on the adapter for optimal performance.
Step 7: Apply Power and Verify Connection
Apply 24VDC power to the camera and observe the status LEDs for a successful power-on sequence. Use the NexBot Vision Suite's discovery tool to find the camera on the network and establish a connection.
4. Post-Installation Verification
- Confirm the camera's status LEDs indicate a stable power supply and an active GigE network link.
- Use the NexBot Vision Suite to stream a live 2D image and capture a test 3D point cloud.
- Check the software's diagnostic panel for any dropped packets or network errors.
- Perform a basic focus and exposure adjustment to ensure a clear view of the intended workspace.
- Assign a permanent IP address to the camera and save the configuration to its non-volatile memory.
- Verify the IP67 rating by confirming all M12 connectors are fully tightened and any unused ports are sealed with the provided caps.
