1. Required Tools & Materials
2. Pre-Installation Checks
- Verify that the SKU on the packaging matches NXB-MNT-612-019.
- Inspect all components for shipping damage, paying close attention to the powder-coated finish and mounting threads.
- Confirm the installation area is clean, level, and free of obstructions.
- Ensure the chosen mounting surface (floor, frame) can support the weight of the mounts (3.5 kg each) plus the light curtain assembly.
- Review the installation manual for the specific safety light curtain model to be installed, noting its alignment requirements.
- Ensure all required tools and appropriate anchoring hardware (e.g., concrete anchors, T-nuts) are available.
3. Installation Procedure
Step 1: Step 1: Unpack and Inventory Components
Carefully unpack the mount set and lay out all components. Cross-reference the parts with the included packing list to ensure the kit is complete before beginning installation.
Step 2: Step 2: Position and Mark Base Plate Locations
Determine the precise locations for the light curtain transmitter and receiver. Use a tape measure and laser level to position the base plates according to your safety plan and mark the drilling holes on the mounting surface.
Warning: Incorrect placement can create gaps in the safety field. Double-check all measurements against your risk assessment documentation.
Step 3: Step 3: Secure the Base Plates
Drill the marked holes using the appropriate drill bit for your mounting surface. Securely fasten the base plates using suitable anchors or bolts, ensuring they are level and do not rock.
Warning: Use only certified and correctly rated anchoring hardware. Inadequate anchoring is a primary cause of mount failure.
Step 4: Step 4: Attach Vertical Posts
Mount the main vertical posts to the secured base plates using the provided hardware. Initially, leave the fasteners slightly loose to allow for minor adjustments.
Step 5: Step 5: Install Light Curtain Mounting Brackets
Attach the adjustable light curtain brackets to the vertical posts at the required height. The slotted design allows for vertical positioning before final tightening.
Step 6: Step 6: Mount the Light Curtain Emitter and Receiver
Fasten the light curtain emitter and receiver units to their respective mounting brackets. Ensure they are oriented correctly as per the light curtain manufacturer's instructions.
Warning: Handle light curtain components with care. Do not overtighten mounting screws, as this can damage the device housing.
Step 7: Step 7: Perform Coarse Alignment
Visually align the emitter and receiver. Use a laser level or straightedge to ensure the posts are plumb and the light curtains are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the ground.
Step 8: Step 8: Final Alignment and Tightening
Power on the light curtain and use its alignment indicators. Use the fine-adjustment screws on the NXB-MNT-612-019 brackets to achieve optimal signal strength. Once aligned, systematically tighten all fasteners on the base plates, posts, and brackets to the recommended torque specifications.
Warning: Do not operate machinery until a successful post-installation check and system commissioning has been completed.
4. Post-Installation Verification
- Verify that all mounting hardware is tightened securely and no components are loose.
- Confirm the light curtain indicates a perfectly aligned state with maximum signal strength.
- Perform a 'break test' by passing the specified test object through multiple zones of the light curtain (top, middle, bottom, sides) to ensure detection.
- Check that the mount is rigid and does not deflect or vibrate excessively when light pressure is applied.
- Ensure that wiring is properly routed and secured, free from pinch points or trip hazards.
- Document the installation date and responsible technician for maintenance records.
