Installation Guide: NexBot Robotics 733-004 Cleaning Solvent (1L)
SKU: NXB-GEN-733-004 | Revision: 1.0 | Category: Wear Parts & Consumables > Lubricants & Fluids > Cleaning Solvents
DANGER: Disconnect all power sources before beginning installation.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures per OSHA 1910.147.
1. Required Tools & Materials
2. Pre-Installation Checks
- Review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for NexBot Robotics 733-004 Cleaning Solvent before use.
- Ensure the robotic system and associated machinery are powered down and in a safe, de-energized state (LOTO).
- Verify the work area is well-ventilated to prevent vapor accumulation.
- Confirm that the 1L container (SKU: NXB-GEN-733-004) is sealed and undamaged.
- Check material compatibility by testing the solvent on a small, inconspicuous area of the surface to be cleaned.
- Prepare all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and have it readily accessible.
3. Installation Procedure
Step 1: Step 1: Prepare the Work Area
Place a drip pan or absorbent mat beneath the area to be cleaned to catch any excess solvent. Ensure adequate ventilation is active to disperse fumes during application.
Warning: Vapors may be flammable. Eliminate all ignition sources, including open flames, sparks, and hot surfaces, from the immediate vicinity.
Step 2: Step 2: Don Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Put on chemical splash safety goggles and solvent-resistant gloves. If ventilation is inadequate, a respirator approved for organic vapors may be required.
Step 3: Step 3: Decant Solvent if Necessary
If using a spray bottle or small container for application, carefully pour a small amount of the NexBot Robotics 733-004 Cleaning Solvent from its original 240 x 90 x 90 mm container into the application vessel. Immediately reseal the original container to prevent evaporation and contamination.
Warning: Avoid splashing. Pour slowly and deliberately to minimize vapor release.
Step 4: Step 4: Apply Solvent to Cleaning Wipe
Moisten a clean, lint-free wipe with the solvent. Do not oversaturate the wipe; it should be damp, not dripping wet, to control application and minimize waste.
Step 5: Step 5: Clean Robot Surfaces
Systematically wipe down the contaminated surfaces of the robot arm, joints, or end-of-arm tooling. Apply gentle pressure and use a consistent motion to lift grease, oil, and other residues.
Warning: Do not apply directly to unsealed electronic components, bearings, or optical sensors.
Step 6: Step 6: Address Heavy Contamination
For areas with stubborn or built-up contaminants, a second application may be necessary. Allow the solvent to dwell on the surface for a few moments before wiping to enhance its dissolving action.
Step 7: Step 7: Allow for Complete Evaporation
The solvent is formulated for rapid evaporation. Allow the cleaned surfaces to air dry completely. Do not attempt to accelerate drying with unapproved heat sources.
Warning: Ensure area remains well-ventilated until all solvent has evaporated and vapors have dissipated.
Step 8: Step 8: Dispose of Used Materials
Place all used wipes, gloves, and other contaminated materials into the designated, sealed waste container. Dispose of waste in accordance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Warning: Solvent-soaked materials may be considered hazardous waste and require special disposal procedures.
4. Post-Installation Verification
- Visually inspect the cleaned surfaces to ensure all contaminants have been removed and there is no visible residue.
- Confirm that all surfaces are completely dry to the touch before proceeding.
- Verify that no solvent has inadvertently dripped into sensitive areas like control cabinets or motor housings.
- Check for any signs of damage, discoloration, or softening on plastic, rubber, or painted surfaces.
- Securely store the remaining NexBot Robotics 733-004 Cleaning Solvent in its designated location.
- Document the cleaning task in the robot's maintenance log, noting the date and components cleaned.
