2. Pre-Installation Checks

  1. Verify that the target workstation meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements published on the NexBot portal.
  2. Confirm that you have local administrator privileges required to install software and services.
  3. Ensure that your network firewall and proxy settings allow outbound connections to NexBot's licensing servers on the specified ports.
  4. Download the latest version of the NexBot Robotics 232-001 installer from your account on the official customer portal.
  5. Locate your unique License Activation Key and have it readily available.
  6. Close all other non-essential applications to ensure a smooth installation process and prevent file conflicts.

3. Installation Procedure

Step 1: Launch the Installer

Navigate to the location of the downloaded installer executable file. Right-click the file and select 'Run as administrator' to begin the installation process.

Warning: Failure to run the installer with administrator privileges may result in an incomplete installation and subsequent application errors.

Step 2: Accept End-User License Agreement (EULA)

Carefully read the terms and conditions of the software license. You must accept the agreement to proceed with the installation.

Step 3: Select Installation Type

Choose the desired installation type. 'Typical' is recommended for most users and includes all standard features, while 'Custom' allows for the selection of specific components like robot model libraries or language packs.

Step 4: Choose Installation Directory

Specify the destination folder where the simulation software will be installed. It is recommended to use the default path unless your IT policy requires a different location.

Warning: Installing on a network drive may result in reduced performance and is not officially supported.

Step 5: Install Required Dependencies

The installer will now check for and install any necessary prerequisite software, such as the .NET Framework or Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables. Allow this process to complete automatically.

Step 6: Begin Main Application Installation

Click 'Install' to begin copying the main application files to your workstation. This process may take several minutes depending on your system's performance.

Step 7: Complete Installation

Once all files are copied and configured, the installer will display a completion message. Click 'Finish' to exit the setup wizard.

Step 8: Launch the License Manager

After installation, launch the NexBot License Manager utility from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut. This tool is used to apply and manage your software license.

Step 9: Activate the Software License

In the License Manager, select 'Activate New License' and enter the NXB-GEN-232-001 License Activation Key when prompted. The utility will contact NexBot servers to validate the key and activate the software on your workstation.

Warning: An active internet connection is required for this one-time activation step.

  2. Navigate to the 'Help' > 'About' menu to verify that the license is shown as 'Active' and the correct product is listed.
  3. Load one of the included sample projects to confirm that the 3D environment renders correctly and the simulation runs.
  4. Test the virtual teach pendant functionality by jogging the robot model within the sample workcell.
  5. Ensure you can create, save, and reopen a new, empty project.
  6. Check the NexBot customer portal or the application's update utility for any available day-one patches or hotfixes.
